Hi ladies,
The mods and I have been talking and we've decided that it'd be best to set TTH's privacy to the highest level that Dreamwidth offers - i.e. all posts going forward will be viewable only to members of this community. (And we'll be changing the settings on the old ones over the next couple of days.) Given the personal nature of the topics we're discussing as well as our desire to foster a very, very safe space, we thought that this route would provide the maximum level of comfort and best protect the content of the conversations, especially since some of us are sharing not only our own experiences, but also the experiences of others.
Since I like to anticipate questions that people might have...
I'm already a member of TTH; what does this change mean for me, practically?
First, it means that the only people who will have access to your comments will be the women who have registered and introduced themselves to this community, so you are in a very safe space. Secondly, it means that you will need to be signed in to your DW account to view entries. Other than that, there should be no practical changes - this is a change on our end and all of the settings you've chosen in terms of email notifications, etc, should still work as usual.
I'm not yet a member of TTH, but someone has invited me/I'm intrigued/I think I need this community, does this mean I can't join?
By no means! Having our posts be members-only is not a giant "KEEP OUT" sign. But we are asking you to register and introduce yourself (in the welcome post here, which has been left viewable to everyone) in order to access the content on this site. We know that sometimes it's easier or more comfortable to stay in safe lurkerdom, but we also think that your bravery, if you choose to join this space, will be well-rewarded by the conversation, fellowship, and prayers of the other women here!
Okay, so I'm new and I'd like to join. What should I do?
Send an email to tothehilltops AT gmail DOT com and let us know who you are (you'll most likely already be someone we know), what your DW username is, and that you'd like to join and we'll get you all set up!
I'm intrigued by TTH's profile and mission, but without being able to see the posts, I'm not sure if this is something I want to sign up for. Can we work something out?
By all means. Email the mods at tothehilltops AT gmail DOT com and we'd be happy to sum up our usual topics of conversation for you, send you excerpts of some of the posts, or answer any other questions you might have.
